The Builds
I am entirely self-taught. Pinterest, blogs, and YouTube tutorials have been my inspiration and instructors for nearly all of my builds around my house. I’ve been slowly accumulating tools and hardware, and getting more and more comfortable with the terminology.
I am in no way a woodworker - some of my finished builds are rough and not necessarily pretty. I’m missing some tools - like a pocket hold jig and even simple tools like clamps. I’ve gotten creative in how I assemble these things…when I can I’ll tell you what I learned and what I wished I had done, but for the most part, I’m pleased with how my builds turned out. People much better and wiser than I can certainly improve on what I created!
My background is in live theater, but I never really built the sets…now, I’m not sure I could get away with getting out of that job!
Building a Fence with No Digging
I needed a light-weight, possibly temporary fence to hold my chickens off my deck, and I did not want to dig! Here’s how I built a fence using PVC pipe and cinder blocks.
How to Build an Automatic Chicken Waterer
Before leaving on a 10-day camping trip, I filled up the water dish for the chickens…and grumbled the entire time. I really wanted some kind of large reservoir…so the online research began! Here’s how I built an automatic chicken waterer.
Becoming a Chicken Farmer
I’ve kind of always wanted chickens, but the initial start up cost was a deterrent. So when some dear friends had to find a new home for their chickens, and were also generously giving their coop and supplies, I gladly took on the mantle!
