Logo Reveal: Superior RV & Boat Storage

A few months ago I was contacted by a local company who was expanding their business and wanted a logo that encompassed both sides of their business. At first, I was asked to create something like a sketch and with the boat and RV inside of a “building” to show storage, so I created a draft and sent it off for approval.

I took their initial description of their desires to heart, as well as looked through their inspiration photos and chose to go in the colors of green and blue - partly because of boat=water (blue) and rv=camping/woods (green), but also because Washington State (and Olympia) has a lot of both of those colors being so close to the ocean/Sound and the forest around. I also put a hint of a mountain behind the RV and boat in this first draft. The green top/edges symbolized their garage/storage, while still giving that reminder that we are surrounded by woods and greenery. Finally, the fonts I chose were bold and blocky which would make it easy to see from a distance, but also easy to view closer on letterheads or online. But, sometimes I miss the mark, as I did in this case, (or sometimes I create what they describe, but then when they see it, they decide “oh no, not that!), which is totally fine - that’s what drafts and revisions are for!

Although logos can go through a lot of revisions, it’s imperative that we settle on something that fits you and your business!

So, then we started revising - they really wanted a clearer symbol of the storage and wanted a darker blue. They also suggested to see it in gold and to change up the RV and Boat as the first one was too modern. The second draft was getting closer to their thoughts, but then when we tried it with silver and a different set of recreation vehicles, we seemed to hit the mark! As a lark, I sent them the round version - and even though it doesn’t have the “storage” in the logo - the team fell in love with that version (just had me get rid of the mirrors on that RV!).
